On September 17, 2026, the HSEQ Function of Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) successfully conducted a comprehensive emergency fire drill at its Kolonnawa terminal, a critical facility where flammable fuels are stored.

The primary objective of the exercise was to develop and validate effective response strategies for potential disasters, while ensuring that all personnel are fully prepared to act swiftly and decisively in the event of an emergency.

The drill demonstrated strong inter-agency collaboration, with participation from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Police, together with the Colombo and Kotte Municipal Fire Brigades, the Colombo Port Fire Brigade, the CPC Refinery Fire Division, the Suwaseriya Ambulance Service, and the Railway Department. Additional support was provided by the District Disaster Management Center. Approximately 7 emergency fire response vehicles and around 100 internal and external support crew members took part in the exercise.

The event was supervised by our Executive Director, Mr. W.S. Hemantha Kumara, together with the DGM (E&S), DGM (Finance), DGM (Operations), and Acting DGM (HR & Admin). The drill was conducted under the purview of the dedicated officers of the HSEQ Function, including the Acting Manager (HSEQ), Deputy Manager (F&S), Fire Superintendent, and Safety Superintendent, who coordinated this fire drill.

The successful execution of this drill reflects CPSTL's unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of fire safety, emergency preparedness, and operational resilience.
