CPSTL conducts awareness workshop on workplace drug prevention and recovery in support of National Drug Prevention Week
In line with the government-declared National Drug Prevention Week, Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) organized a one-day workshop on workplace drug prevention and recovery awareness on 20 March 2026.
The session was conducted by Mr. Chamara Karunaratne, Media Spokesperson of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB). It focused on raising awareness of drug-related risks in the local context and their impact on health, while also promoting a deeper understanding of addiction as a health condition, particularly in high-stress work environments.
The workshop further emphasized the importance of maintaining a drug-free workplace to enhance safety and productivity. Supervisors were trained to identify early warning signs using strategies recommended by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). In addition, the session addressed the legal, social, and economic consequences of drug use, highlighting its potential impact on careers and overall development.
